IHSW + TUSAL September!

Yay I'm back on track. . . a IHSW and a TUSAL post in one! I have to admit there wasn't thaatt much stitching done this weekend. I added two and a half lines to LK's 'A Good Marriage,' which is looking beautiful but a crazy wrinkley mess at the same time :)

Over the weekend I also picked up some fabric for a new sewing project for hubby. Anyone care to guess what it is?

Finally, here is my September TUSAL. A wee mound of browny threads on the top.

Enjoy your week everyone!

Insanely Proud :)

I finished my first quilt top! Yes I did! It is in no way perfect. In fact it's completely inperfect. You can really tell that I don't yet have a rotary cutter and than my best measuring tool is a tape measure (good thing it was mostly charm squares, so limited cutting). Some of my points are 100% spot on and some of them are woefully off. But I love it!

The thing is . . . what on earth do I do next? I presume I need to finding a backing fabric and some batting and join it all together. Does anyone want to point me in the right direction as to how to do that? Another question for my quilty followers: Can I quilt this on my normal sewing machine? It's not a big quilt, lap sized, and according to the instruction manual I can get a walking foot for my machine (a modern Bernina). But advice I've received from others is that this isn't possible/practical and I should hand-quilt it or send it to a long arm quilter. I just want to quilt straight lines (but not in the ditch). Help?!

In other news I'm taking part in the IHSW for the first time in months! (wedding tended to get in the way). Here's my very wrinkled before shot - I'm hoping to put in some good needle time on LK's 'A Good Marriage' over the weekend.

Good luck to everyone else joining in!

Weekendy Things

Hubby and I are having our first properly relaxed weekend since long before the wedding. Last weekend was our first with no guests, but I spent the weekend catching up on cleaning the house and an assignment for my Librarian study, while hubby was preparing for his chartered engineer dissertation presentation. Now everything of that type is finished and we have been spending the weekend doing the things we like best!

I've been working on my quilt. The top is soooo almost finished now, but I need to pick up some more white fabric before I can do the last two strips.

We've also been reading, eating yummy food and sleeping! I'm about to settle down to watch mythbusters and start writing a few of these for the wedding.

The weather here is starting to turn towards spring and summer. This week we had our first true Nor'wester for months. That is a unique wind that blows through the plains where I live. It is a hot wind and creates strange effects in the sky. It is very beautiful and makes it pleasantly warm, but it can also have a strange effect on people's moods and feelings! Today is not as nice, you can see the sea raging outside, but it is still surprisingly warm.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend too!

I've actually done some stitching!

Yes! It's true! I've actually done some stitching. I've been working on LK's 'A Good Marriage,' which is based on a reading that we had at both of our weddings and really suits us down to the ground. It's being such a pleasure to stitch again and this piece in particular.

Here's to getting back to craftyness :) Hope you're all having a great weekend!
